I was on a night train from Vienna to Florence and I was supposed to switch trains in Venice at 8 or 9 in the morning. But when we arrived in Venice, I got off the train and it was a beautiful day so I skipped the connection to Florence, dropped off my luggage at the train station and spent the day getting seriously lost in the labyrinth of canals and back alleys. This was one of my favorite days of the trip, Venice was even better then I had imagined it to be. I walked for miles and miles, ate plenty of gelato, and stopped at every other bakery for treats. It was glorious.
