An abandoned former school house was purchased by Swedish glass designer Ingegerd Råman and her husband Claes Soderquist to convert into a home and studio space. Leaving the facade of the building generally unchanged, the interior was designed and renovated by Swedish design firm, Claesson Koivisto Rune, and an additional studio space was built adjacent to the schoolhouse.
The contrast of traditional exterior and modern interior is what really stands out about this project. Like the Chenchow Little Skylight House, it's about the secret interior hiding behind the unassuming exterior facade. Paying respect to the original structure, repurposing an otherwise unused old schoolhouse, and giving it a beautiful new life. Another awesome sleeper house.
